folly beach anniversary

4 May 2011

Our Folly Beach one year anniversary trip was A-mazing! Just what we both needed to kick off the summer.

We took off work on Friday and got up bright and early to make the 4.5 hour drive down the east coast. Arriving in Charleston around lunchtime, we ventured on over to Poogan’s Porch at the suggestion of a coworker. Joey ordered the buttermilk fried chicken lunch and quickly determined that it was “the best fried chicken he has ever eaten.” Trust me, that boy has eaten his fair share of fried chicken, so that says a lot. I will say that the bite I had was very delicious. Here he is on the porch making that very important lunch food choice.

We arrived at ocean view hotel room after lunch, and got our first glimpse of the Atlantic. What a beautiful sight it was.

Yes, there were a lot of people on the beach, but that didn’t stop us from having a good time. We were very thankful to find a decently priced, ocean-front hotel to stay at on such a gorgeous weekend. Within a few minutes, we were down on the beach and I had a very bright red drink in my hands.

We spent the afternoon soaking up rays and eventually made our way to the hotel restaurant, Blu for dinner.  We shared some crab cakes and a giant plate surf and turf courtesy of a super sweet anniversary present from the Fante’s.

To our surprise, Saturday morning, we walked out of our hotel room and saw a market setup on the main road onto the island.

Adorable, right? The market was pretty cool and we got some good food, but the highlight was this guy seeing me with my camera and forcing Joey to take a picture with him. hi.lar.i.ous.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
